FIFA Disciplinary Committee statement on doping control

FIFA SEOUL, 31 May - At the meeting of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on 30 May in Seoul, Chairman Marcel MATHIER reiterated the following points regarding the application of doping control during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan™.
· FIFA Doping Control Regulations, which govern the test procedures, state that every player taking part in a competition organised by FIFA shall agree to undergo any tests conducted by the relevant bodies of FIFA.
· This agreement is a prerequisite for being allowed to play in competitions, during which the above tests may be carried out. Any player who refuses to give advance written consent (24 hours or in special circumstances, one hour before the first match of the competition) to take a blood test as part of a possible doping control will not be allowed to take part in the competition.
